Follow me as I trade purely mechanical using a 'Plan before Product' trading style that Tom Sosnoff himself said that had he used this over his last 30 years of trading, he'd probably have 3X more money.

frenchy: Or you could sell a 10 lot of the Feb SPX 2110/2115/1940/1935 Iron Condor 84% OTM for a credit of $1,350 for the same brokerage fee cost with the same $5.00 wide strike risk? Jan 23, 2015 19:42:53 GMT -8
tastyjohn: Spx is a big contract. U graduate to it after learning the management game with spy. I don't think too much about commisions. That is part of the game. Jan 24, 2015 7:40:22 GMT -8
tastyjohn: Just as u can make more money with spx, u can also loose more money with it. All boils down to risk reward. Jan 24, 2015 7:41:34 GMT -8
hakkoryukami: I stay with $SPY until 100 lots, then switch to $SPX. Jan 24, 2015 11:46:38 GMT -8
tastyjohn: That looks like a good way to do it Hakkoryukami. Good thinking Jan 24, 2015 12:43:23 GMT -8
@hawaiiantrader: Its function of your bankroll, if you have portfolio margin and how much you're trading. If you are trading 10 lots of SPY all the time and maybe even have multiple positions like that you can switch to 1 lots of SPX and save on the commisions Jan 24, 2015 12:54:03 GMT -8
tastyjohn: Anyone know how to get IV Rank displayed in TOS? Thx Jan 24, 2015 13:27:11 GMT -8 *
@hawaiiantrader: Here you go. Make sure yout thinkorswim is up and runnnig when you click on this link, it makes it easier. Copy and paste the link to our browser. http://tos.mx/e2BoMw Jan 24, 2015 13:48:32 GMT -8
@hawaiiantrader: This next one is for the chart on the lower part. The first one is for the top left of your main chart. http://tos.mx/lVi1h0 Jan 24, 2015 13:49:41 GMT -8
@hawaiiantrader: This is for the entire chart and includes all studies that are on my screen. http://tos.mx/dbjKAi Jan 24, 2015 13:51:58 GMT -8
tastyjohn: Thank you for the TOS links Mark. Will try it out shortly. Jan 24, 2015 19:01:59 GMT -8
frenchy: I like this lower study much better Futures IV Rank Thinkscript found here: https://www.tastytrade.com/tt/shows/last-call/episodes/futures-iv-rank-thinkscript-08-28-2014?locale=en-US Jan 24, 2015 21:44:08 GMT -8
frenchy: That lower study indicator shows current IV Rank, Implied Volatility, Daily, Weekly, and Monthly 1 Standard Deviation and with a chart graph to boot :) Jan 24, 2015 21:46:37 GMT -8
tastyjohn: In many of the IC discussion, when Tom says collect 1/3 or 50% of the width of the strikes, are they placing these trades at 1 SD/2 SD or does that not matter? In other words the expectation is to go as further out as possible via trial and error? Jan 25, 2015 8:06:27 GMT -8
tastyjohn: Something like go as further out as possible and try different strikes and different strike widths via trial and error? Jan 25, 2015 8:08:55 GMT -8
@hawaiiantrader: They are usually not talking about 1 SD away. Be careful when you watch certain market measures. Make sure that the study has context on what strikes they are talking about. Ex: Market Measure on Jan 2 was NOT 1 SD away and NOT when IV Rank >50% Jan 25, 2015 9:14:20 GMT -8
tastyjohn: yeah. To get 1/3 of the strike width is more of a price discovery then. Try to go as far as possible and try do price discovery to get 1/3 credit for different strike width via trial and error. Jan 25, 2015 10:32:45 GMT -8
tastyjohn: nice cheat sheet https://www.tastytrade.com/tt/shows/market-measures/episodes/kellys-cheat-sheet-04-08-2014?locale=en-US Jan 25, 2015 10:50:28 GMT -8
tastyjohn: Offical answer from tastytrade support: Usually to collect 1/3rd width of the strikes we have to move closer than 1SD. To collect 50%, we have to move even closer. Jan 26, 2015 6:46:25 GMT -8
tastyjohn: Awesome management of GMCR trade by Robyn from tastytrade Jan 26, 2015 6:56:16 GMT -8
